Helpful Information for Guests

Money & Services

  • There are no banks or ATMs in the village. We recommend bringing enough pesos for your stay, as most restaurants and shops are cash-only.
  • The closest ATM is located in Careyes, about 20 minutes away.

Medical & Safety

  • We have an excellent private clinic with English speaking doctor in the village for basic needs.
  • Urgent care and more comprehensive medical services are available about 20 minutes away at Clínica Careyes.
  • Local pharmacies carry most essentials.
  • We are in a tropical area, so you may encounter insects and the occasional scorpion. We fumigate regularly to keep pests to a minimum, but it’s still wise to shake out towels and shoes before use.

Transportation

  • The closest airports are Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) and Manzanillo Playa de Oro Airport (ZLO)
  • Taxis and local transport can be arranged in advance, including reliable airport transfers.
  • Cell service can be spotty in certain areas, so downloading maps or directions ahead of time is helpful.
  • We are about a 15-minute walk to the beach. Guests are welcome to use our bicycles, and we’re also happy to provide rides to and from the beach when available.

Food, Water & Supplies

  • Tap water is not drinkable, but it is safe for showering, washing, and brushing teeth.
  • We provide filtered drinking water in the common-area kitchen, and we encourage guests to bring reusable water bottles.
  • You are welcome to use the common-area kitchen, which includes an extra-large fridge and freezer.
  • Our local tiendas carry almost everything you might need during your stay, from snacks to basic groceries.
  • If you have food allergies or need specialty items, let us know, we’re happy to help. You can also stop at a larger grocery store in Puerto Vallarta for specific products.
  • There’s also weekly home delivery from our local fresh fruit and veggie vendor.

Weather & Environment

  • Evenings can be cooler in the winter months, bring a light sweater.
  • Mosquitoes are more common during certain seasons, so repellent is handy.
  • Sunscreen can be very expensive locally, bringing your preferred brand from home is recommended.

Other Helpful Notes

  • Internet speeds are generally good but may vary with weather.
  • The village is quiet and peaceful, great for relaxation, but nightlife is very limited.
  • We have off-site laundry service with a 24-hour turn around (small fee).
  • Spanish is spoken here, though many locals understand basic English, still, a few Spanish phrases go a long way.
